Background
Staples is a large office supply chain store, with over 2,000 stores worldwide in 26 countries. Its web site, staples.com, is one of the top 1,000 sites worldwide in terms of traffic.
The Need
Staples sponsors Succeed: Small Business Network, a LinkedIn group where small business owners can discuss a variety of topics. Staples wished to promote awareness of the  succeed LinkedIn group on its site, while offering its LinkedIn group users the opportunity to explore Staples original content and offerings from its web site.
The Infomous Solution
In collaboration with San Francisco-based Friend2Friend, Infomous developed a cloud that combines comments from the LinkedIn group and articles that appeared on staples.com’s Small Business Hub. The Infomous cloud was designed so that, when clicking on a word, the user sees a list of LinkedIn comments, interspersed with relevant articles on the same topic.
The Results
The Infomous cloud was shown on various pages in different sizes and formats. While engagement rates varied depending on cloud location, overall time on page was consistently much higher for readers who engaged with Infomous than for those who did not.
